duties/responsibilities:
Working with the owner & founder of a startup music publishing company, interns will be involved in some or all of the following:

– researching music licensing activity in the tv, film, trailer, advertising, & video game arenas

– researching the Wonderlous song catalog in order to fill licensing briefs & craft sync pitches

– scouting new musical talent / unsigned artists; evaluating incoming music submissions

– Wonderlous audio library maintenance (curating creative playlists; .mp3 importing, metatagging, & keyword indexing)

– Wonderlous artist content management (drafting artist bios, website/Synchtank updating & maintenance)

– music publishing administration tasks (song data entry, PRO registrations, creation & maintenance of tracking spreadsheets, research & report generation)

– any other aspects involved in the daily operations of a boutique music publishing company

qualifications/skills needed:
– passionate fans of contemporary pop culture & the use of music in audiovisual media, including tv, web video (Youtube, Netflix, Amazon), film, advertising, and videogames

– ‘super music fans’ knowledgeable of what’s currently hot, and what’s not

– knowledge of and/or related work experience with music industry & music publishing business concepts and fundamentals

– social media & tech-savvy; general proficiency with the use of Mac computers, Microsoft Office applications, iTunes, Google Drive

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Seek out and pitch the label roster’s music to film, TV, advertising, trailers, and gaming music supervisors
– Research upcoming production schedules and meet with supervisors to find licensing opportunities
– Collaborate with label staff to integrate synch opportunities into overall marketing plans
– Communicate and strategize with artists and their managers about potential synch opportunities

– Initiate and manage the contract administration process including negotiations, invoicing, and collections

Skills:

This job consists of communicating daily with our labels; working with them in scheduling a new release, creating a robust marketing plan in all segments of our business, overseeing and coordinating the execution of the plan, troubleshooting problems and marketing multiple phases of both new releases and catalog as needed to create the biggest success possible.

Significant duties of the Project Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Maintain consistent contact with assigned labels to insure the label and the company are in full communication about new releases, catalog, marketing and promotions. The main conduit and point person for everything relating to your set of labels. Meet personally with bands and labels when possible at shows or in the office.
-Expertise in overall label health, sales goals and expectations.
-Coordinate and document each label’s schedule of releases (digital, physical, D2F, export, available titles for licensing) to insure deadlines are met according to the new release schedule and tracking documents.
-Create sales & marketing plans utilizing label promotions, budget and sales history in support of new releases, catalog and tours.
-Oversee the initial marketing plan discussions and identify priorities and opportunities.
-Be point person for all Redeye-related questions from assigned labels
-Keep sales team informed of press/radio/touring/promotions/restocks of assigned label products
-Schedule set-up meetings and create marketing plans for Priority releases, or as instructed to by the Label Strategy Manager.
-Coordinate any promotional mailings as needed .
-Responsible for identifying and/or soliciting in-house marketing services to Redeye’s labels.
-Get Label sign-off of approved budget and sales & marketing plans.
-Work with label and Label Strategy Manager, to establish initial digital, physical and Direct-To-Fan goals for all relevant territories.
-Work with manufacturing where applicable to ensure proper order quantities in line with goals.

Experience requirements:
Project management or physical retail experience, and/or digital marketplace knowledge is preferred.
One year of Marketing experience preferred.

Department Description:  The Business & Legal Affairs department provides global business and legal affairs support to Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA).  ADA is one of the leading distributors of independent music.  As part of Warner Music Group, ADA provides independent labels and artists with access to a worldwide distribution system.

Reporting to the Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs, this position is responsible for reviewing all label agreements, summarizing key terms, managing the deal database, and coordinating with other ADA and WMG departments to implement deal terms.  

Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:

Develop a detailed understanding of ADA’s label agreements and how the terms of such agreements relate to ADA’s infrastructure.

Review all label agreements, accurately interpret and summarize their terms, and coordinate with other ADA departments to properly implement the terms.

Work with ADA’s President, Business Operations team and Business Affairs team to develop a comprehensive label database, and input and manage all agreement data in the database.

Identify and analyze any discrepancies between label agreements and ADA operations, and resolve such discrepancies or escalate issues to the Business Affairs team as appropriate.

Answer questions and provide advice and guidance regarding label agreements to all ADA departments and respond to inquiries from WMG departments. 

Track end dates of all label agreements and ensure that the Business Affairs team is up to date on upcoming expirations.

Participate in the development and implementation of ADA’s contract-related policies and procedures.

Scope of the Position

The successful President & CEO will provide overall leadership and management of A2IM including:
• Continuing this period of accelerated growth for A2IM and its members.
• Developing and articulating a vision that maximizes the impact and effectiveness of the organization.
• Implementing that vision through strategic planning
• Building, motivating and managing a strong staff that produces results and new leaders, including preparing other staff members to travel and speak on behalf of A2IM.
• Ensuring sound financial and programmatic management, and the overall financial well-being of the organization.
• Continuing A2IM’s strong position of engaging its membership as well as other music industry organizations to work collectively to achieve the goals of the organization.
• Fostering effective relationships with and among all stakeholders. Working effectively in support of independent music companies as well as the other organizations that advocate for the independent sector.
• Persuasively representing the collective mission and interests of A2IM’s members in the press, at industry events, with policy makers and with other non-label counterparts in the music and digital ecosystems.
• Managing compliance and risk management in the organization and in the agenda it drives for its members.
• Achieving results that increase the benefit to members, by facilitating healthy, productive, high integrity relationships with non-label counterparts.
Position Requirements
The successful President & CEO will be a highly intelligent and charismatic leader who possesses a keen understanding of the music industry. The President & CEO must be fully committed to the mission of A2IM and demonstrate the highest possible standards of integrity, resourcefulness, determination and courage. Ideally, candidates will possess qualifications including but not limited to:
• Substantial years of experience within the music and/or entertainment industries, and/or working on behalf of creative rights holders.
• Well-rounded, cross-functional executive experience with depth in one or more of the legal, marketing, financial, entrepreneurial or artist management fields.
• Visionary understanding of the trends in technology, social media, rights and globalization that affect the independent music industry.
• A work style that is highly consultative yet decisive, that is creative yet pragmatic.
• Strong communication, mediation and facilitation skills, including consistent and careful listening skills combined with well-honed trust building skills.
• Ability to travel frequently on behalf of A2IM.

This person will help with digital audio and video distribution, data analytics, social media content creation, and various other responsibilities in the digital universe. Merge is one of the most respected independent record labels in the world, and this is a great opportunity for someone who loves music and wants to be involved in the world of digital content.

The Digital Operations Specialist will be responsible for various tasks related to multiple projects/releases; therefore, strong time management and task-prioritizing skills are essential. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, flexible, highly self-motivated, and open to our “all hands on deck” office style.

DUTIES:
• Internal operations
– Setup for track/video premieres (SoundCloud, YouTube, etc.)
– Fulfillment of internal file delivery requests
• DTC digital accounts management (Merge digital store, Bandcamp, etc.)
• Social and online video content production and editing
• Video channel maintenance and upkeep (YouTube, Vimeo, VEVO)
• Assets and claims maintenance for YouTube and SoundCloud CMS
• Merge digital store and vinyl download support
• Other related tasks as requested

REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience with Audacity (or other audio editing) and Final Cut Pro X (or other video editing) software
• Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency
• Familiarity with digital audio & video formats, encoding, metadata tagging
• Familiarity with the existing landscape of digital music services and social networks
• Experience with reading and interpreting data analytics

PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Coding experience
• Familiarity with content management systems
