Position Summary:

This exciting new position reporting to the VP, International Marketing of eOne Music requires a dynamic self-starter to head the work in the U.S. Music Division to represent our remarkable client roster across all divisions of Label, Management & Publishing divisions.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking to recruit an exceptional candidate to join our licensing team in New York, NY to assist our Director, Licensing Strategy with the execution of our mid-term licensing strategy. The Senior Manager, Licensing Strategy’s primary focus will be helping to market new Spotify services to the independent label community in the United States and internationally. The senior manager will also help with ongoing strategy and product development (from a marketing perspective) aimed at this Spotify partner segment. This is a global role and works across multiple time zones.

What you’ll do:

Pitching new Spotify marketing and other services to independent labels to form a closer relationship with Spotify.
Explain Spotify contractual content license and services terms to independent labels.
Communicate independent labels’ questions and comments on Spotify services to Spotify product, legal and licensing teams to inform strategy and product development.
Work with the Spotify legal team to execute contracts with new label partners.

Who you are:

You will have at least 5 years of experience in music content licensing working for a consumer digital service or content aggregator with a focus on the independent record label sector.
You will have extensive contacts at independent record labels in the United States and internationally and understand the digital sales, marketing and operations needs of these companies.
You have excellent financial modeling (i.e. Excel, Google Sheets) skills.
You are comfortable making presentations to senior management at independent record labels and have excellent presentation (Powerpoint, Keynote) creation skills.
You are willing to travel frequently in the United States and internationally.
You are fluent in English. Business-fluency in a second language is a plus.
You are a huge music fan and a daily Spotify user.

Job Description:

• Source materials for various deluxe components; obtain pricing and schedules from vendors

• Manage and organize all source material for production projects

• Generate, collect and update all release metadata in company database

Job Overview:
The Department of Arts & Entertainment Enterprise of Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts and Design seeks candidates for a full time faculty appointment in its Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Program to teach courses in a variety of areas in the music business (e.g., recording industry, publishing industry, artist management, new media, marketing, or social networking) and, as Assistant Program Director, will team with the Program Director to handle program administration. Depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, the appointment may be either a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level, or a contract position as Assistant Teaching Professor.

Qualifications:
● Substantial music industry experience and the ability to teach courses in a variety of areas in the music business (e.g., recording industry, publishing industry, artist management, new media, marketing, or social networking).
● M.B.A. or Masters Degree in a related discipline required.
● Demonstrated evidence of the following: depth and breadth of working knowledge of the current music industry both domestic and worldwide; direct experience with new media, digital technology and/or telecommunications industry; knowledge of music industry legal policy, the live-music industry, recorded music, music publishing; connections in the music industry useful to our co-op program.

Beggars Group is looking for an intern who has interest in promotion to work in the New York City office.

Duties are as follows:
Assist in developing one sheets including: pull quotes from press updates, tour updates, recent interviews etc.

Learning and regularly using radio-related databases in an effort to interpret and utilize radio spins, sales and streaming data for weekly and daily marketing materials.

Listen to Beggars albums for FCC violations and to identify related artists for weekly RIYL e-blasts to stations

Pulling format specific radio spins and assist with weekly radio reports for each label

Assist with in-house mailings as needed.

Domino Publishing Company is seeking a full time Licensing/Copyright Manager. This position reports to the Senior Licensing Director. We are seeking an individual who has great interpersonal skills, is a self-starter, and has the ability to work in an open group environment. The Licensing/Copyright Manager will be responsible primarily for synchronization licensing, as well as for performing rights, mechanical, and new media licensing. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills; the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment; strong musical knowledge, and an awareness of the ever-changing music marketplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Synchronization Licenses
• Responsible for certain incoming synchronization license requests by the Senior Licensing Director
• Expected to research and understand all rights that are being requested, and in conjunction with Senior Licensing Director and/or GM – to seek clearance/approval from our clients and to negotiate the terms/fees with licensees (Networks, Production, Film Co, Ad Agencies, etc.) on behalf of our clients

Mechanical / New Media Licenses:
• Will be responsible for issuing and tracking mechanical licenses in the US and Canada as needed
• Assist GM/ Sr. Licensing Director with new media/blanket agreements

Performing Rights:
• Point of contact with the American & Canadian Performing Rights Organizations. Responsibilities may include:
o Notifying the appropriate PRO(s) of all new catalog acquisitions
o Occasionally registering new compositions on behalf of our writer/publisher clients
o Manage any issues/disputes/counter claims, in coordination with GM, Sr Licensing Director, and UK Administration Dept.
• Locate information in connection with the known synchronizations of compositions within our control (e.g., Music cue sheets from various TV and Motion Picture studios and ‘media buy’ information from Ad Agencies/Competitrack)

Other administrative duties
• When appropriate, responsibilities will include registering copyrights with the US Copyright Office, and keeping track of the status of these registrations
• Special projects as assigned

REQUIRMENTS:
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in Licensing and/or Administration in Music Publishing or related industry
• Strong knowledge of music publishing and licensing (synchronization, mechanical, print, arrangement, performance, etc.) are must

ABOUT THE COMPANY: The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) is a trade group representing the interests of independently owned recorded music companies. Independently owned labels comprise all genres of music, and more than a third of all recorded music sales in the United States. Major stars such as Taylor Swift, The Lumineers, Alabama Shakes, Mumford and Sons, Bon Iver and many more are on Independent labels. A2IM serves as a central voice for this diverse U.S. based community representing members’ interests in the marketplace, the media, on Capitol Hill, and in the global music community. A2IM works to create value for the entire music ecosystem, which also includes artists, publishers, distributors, digital streaming services, artist managers, music attorneys and others who work with indie labels. Such partners are eligible to join A2IM as Associate Members.

LOCATION: A2IM’s headquarters offices in New York, NY

REPORTING: The Member Relations for Associate Members will report directly to the CEO, and will take direction from others from time to time as designated by the CEO.

A2IM’s Member Relations person’s primary responsibilities include:
• Increasing the organization’s revenues opportunities via:
o Researching, soliciting, and acquiring new Associate Members. 
o Securing sponsorships and brand partnerships from Associate Members who will benefit from sponsoring A2IM events including Indie Week and the Libera Awards.
o Working closely with the Brand Partnerships Manager in facilitating introductions and support for Brand Partnerships.
• Advising Associate Members on generating optimal value from their A2IM membership
• Eliciting feedback from Associate Members to ensure that they are participating, engaged with, and enjoying the benefits from their membership.

The successful applicant will work with the A2IM staff, its Board, member committees, and chapters to create and execute events and initiatives that enhance the value of membership. She or he will answer member questions about A2IM initiatives and events, and will help keep the CEO, staff, and Board of Directors apprised of the challenges and successes of membership.

Specific duties include:
• Acquiring new Associate Members.
• Adding value for existing members by creating commerce, networking, and educational opportunities including one-on-one, roundtable, and town hall style meetings.
• Overseeing The Licensing & Publishing Committee: Organizing meetings, meeting agendas and enlisting the participation of music supervisors as needed
• Managing Digital Media & Emerging Technologies Committee: Overseeing initiatives affecting our community and vetting prospective associate members
• Creating strategic plans aligned with A2IM’s vision and mission.
• Differentiating A2IM from other music trade organizations by offering its associate members a unique and valued service.
• Elevating awareness of the independent music community with the digital music services.
• Developing and maintaining long-term relationships with the US Department of Commerce to enhance export trade. Propose, plan and execute upcoming trade missions and events in foreign territories, in conjunction with Commerce ITA, to facilitate networking and outreach opportunities.
• Researching, identifying, pursuing, and closing new revenue generating opportunities
• Branding A2IM’s events and meeting or exceeding best industry practices
• Some travel required
• Other duties as required

Required Skills and Experience
• Substantial music industry experience and knowledge.
• Broad swath of industry contacts particularly on the support and services side of the industry including but not limited to music services and the digital and tech sectors.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Comprehensive understanding of music industry and particularly independent labels’ issues.
• The drive to go above and beyond to deliver world-class service for our associate and label members.
• Skilled in communicating to all levels of the music, media, and tech industries.
