    Marauder, an artist development and music marketing firm with a focus on emerging talent, is looking to expand its team. This new person will help increase media coverage, radio airplay, online engagement, and public awareness on behalf of a growing list of clients. This position will include many elements of traditional publicity and radio promotion work, with an additional focus on electronic media in all its new and varied forms. It’s imperative that the applicant can simultaneously prioritize the value of media coverage with creative, unusual paths to exposure. More important than experience (and the relationships that come with that) is having the right drive, the ability to offer and implement creative solutions, to work locally as part of a global team, and to communicate effectively in writing and on the phone. Candidates are expected to have strong interest in both new music and the international community.

    Responsibilities:
    – Secure national and local media coverage through a variety of different outlets
    – Pursue radio airplay across relevant new music formats
    – Creatively position each project as its own priority
    – Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, radio programmers, playlist curators, and music industry to benefit clients’ needs
    – Identify new opportunities for client exposure
    – Manage and oversee campaigns executed by third-party organizations
    – Communicate regularly, often outside standard office hours, with a variety of clients ranging from performing artists to government agencies
    – Manage multiple and varying priority tasks with ever-changing deadlines
    – Assist and oversee interns in daily tasks including report generation, market research, data entry, and more
    – Occasionally travel to conferences, festivals, key shows, and media engagements to work on client’s behalf or expand industry relationships

    We are Ninja Tune, an independent record label established in 1990. Our office HQ is in London but we operate as a tight-knit and hands-on satellite office in Echo Park, LA. We are searching for interns who are interested in getting a firsthand look at the independent music industry and functions of a record label, starting in January 2019.

    The candidate should be creative, have a desire to build a career in the music industry and must currently be enrolled in college, ideally in a Marketing, Music Business or Music Industry program. The job will be heavily focused on analytical research and reporting as well as helping out with day-to-day office tasks. The internship will include close supervision by the small team of employees in the office.

    This is an unpaid position and there is no guarantee of a long-term position at the end of the internship term, but our aim is for our interns to transition into stable and successful careers in the music industry as a result of their work with us. Please note that we will compensate interns for their weekly travel expenses, reimbursing either public transportation or gas costs.

    Your tasks:

    – Work closely with the label assistant to compose in-depth campaign research reports.
    – Research the latest and most relevant media outlets that Ninja Tune artists could be pitched to.
    – Work with the label assistant to maintain contact databases.
    – Assist the marketing team with event planning and logistics.
    – Assist with artist travel logistics and booking.
    – Coordinate mail-outs.
    – Assist in the brainstorming of creative marketing campaigns.
    – Help with day-to-day office duties and maintenance.
    – Occasionally assist with logistics at out-of-office events.

    About You:

    – Currently enrolled in college/university – the internship should be taken for college credit. We see our internship program as an extension of a more traditional educational program and would like our candidates to be eager to learn on the job.
    – Available at least 2 days a week – 11am – 5pm.
    – Eager to be here and have a general interest in how an indie record label functions. We want students that are enthusiastic about the business and that have a desire to turn this into a full-time career.
    – Preferably have a car.
    – Receptive to directions, open to asking questions and giving/receiving feedback as you go.

    Candidate loves music, thrives in indie -label culture, and has great instincts and follow-through at driving sales initiatives. 

    Candidate is passionate sales-person possessing deep knowledge of current physical retail landscape in addition to the ever-changing digital-streaming environment. This candidate will 
    have an established network with proven and excellent direct relationships with all retail accounts (national, regional, indie, etc). This position will be crucial to steering the label into the future as it pertains to sales. This person works closely with the GM and will have a vision for growing and increasing the labels sales. The candidate is a macro big picture thinker with great ideas and creativity and can handle diving into the details , and multi-tasking. 

    Candidate will have minimum 5-7 years label or distribution experience. It’s essential that the candidate has held previous Head of Sales or senior level sales positions at labels or distributors.



    Position duties / role will include the following:


    * Oversee and drive physical and digital sales, working closely with ATOs distributors and directly with retail accounts/buyers. 


    * Ability to communicate and effectively pitch label priorities to distribution and retail accounts including DSPs. 


    * Develop and implement robust and exciting new release plans. 


    * Ability to plan release schedule with internal teams. 


    * Ability to work w GM and Head of Finance to project sales
     figures.
    * Development and implementation of sales / marketing campaigns across different levels of artists and phases in the campaigns.

    * Work w GM and core marketing teams to develop exciting new release plans. 


    * Work with GM to develop robust 
    catalog initiatives, discount programs. 

    * Develop Coop retail plans and manage retail budgets.
    * Maintain and possess proven relationships w Amazon, Indie accounts, AEC, Spotify and Apple, Record Clubs (Vinyl Me Please) and Non-Trad accounts or Urban Outfitters. 

    * Must posse
    sexcellent direct relationships with entire account base – national accounts, indies, one stops, DSPs, non-traditional accounts. 

    * Work with core ATO team on DTC and direct sales initiatives. 


    * Run 
    regular sales analysis and inventory reports for GMHead of Finance, and production

    * Posses knowledge of Foreign sales / liaising with international distributors/ partners.
