Beggars Group seeks Radio Promotions Intern

Beggars Group is looking for an intern for their Radio Promotions Department based in the New York City office.

Duties are as follows:

Learning and regularly using radio-related databases in an effort to interpret and utilize radio spins, sales and streaming data for weekly and daily marketing materials.

Assist in developing one sheets including: pull quotes from press updates, tour updates, recent interviews etc.

Listen to Beggars albums for FCC violations and to identify related artists for weekly e-blasts to stations

Pulling format specific radio spins and assist with weekly radio reports for each label

Assist with in-house mailings as needed.

General research on key markets for campaigns and assist with session details as needed.

Nuts and Bolts:

Preferred days of availability (but flexible): Wednesdays and Fridays
College credit can be provided.
Perks include access to shows for artists on all label rosters and minimum wage hourly rate.

Merlin is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic “Member Services Manager” to assist our North and South American members in optimizing all aspects of their Merlin membership.

The position, based in New York City, will report to Merlin’s US based General Manager and Merlin’s Director, Global Member Services, and work closely with Merlin’s Head of Member Operations and Member Services Manager, UK. The role will involve working with existing and new DSPs, as well as coordinating closely with other departments within Merlin.

This is an opportunity for someone with excellent people skills to work with a broad cross-section of the global independent recorded music industry, in a supportive working environment that demands technical
excellence.

The successful candidate will be a motivated and proven self-starter, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and be confident in resolving queries from record labels and distributors on a global basis. Fluency in Spanish and English are a must (Portuguese would be advantageous). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong knowledge of the digital music industry are essential. Established relationships and an understanding of the independent sector (particularly within the LATAM community) would be advantageous.

Areas of responsibility include:
• Manage the Membership Application Process
• On-Going Member support
• Be a point of contact for DSP integration teams
• Provide Email and Phone support
• Create support documentation, training guides, presentations and procedures (including language
translations when applicable)
• Escalate issues appropriately and communicate effectively with internal teams
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve membership related issues
• Assisting Global Member Services & Operations teams toward successful completion of initiatives covering the American continents
• Assisting the US based General Manager in managing communications and completion of tasks from our NY office

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate will have:

Position Overview:
The primary role of the Sync Licensing Manager is to pursue sync licenses in adverting, video games, online and other media for Secretly Publishing and Secretly Group’s wide array of artists. Requirements:
3-5 years experience in sync licensing

Maintain a database of company licensing and perform regular sweeps to follow up on unconfirmed requests

Requirements:
3-5 years experience in license negotiation and drafting
Knowledge of competitive deal structures and ability to negotiate in a way that optimizes value for the company and fosters long term trust and relationships in the industry
Highly organized self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple deadlines

Position Summary
The Director A&R will shape the creative direction and raise the profile of the publishing business at eOne. The successful hire will identify, sign and develop songwriters, writer/producers, and writer/artists across popular genres including pop, urban, hip hop and R&B. This person will enter and process royalty payments and other accounts payable tasks in the SAGE 50 accounting software. At the moment, 2 days a week will be necessary but this position has the potential to grow in to more days a week or even a full time role in the future.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Oversee all aspects of distribution, label, and music publishing royalty process.
o Distribution partners, JV labels, artists, producers, side artists, overrides, samples, audio and video DSP’s, mechanicals, A/V (music video), co-publishers, songwriters.
• Ensure prompt and accurate processing/reporting of both royalty accounts payable and receivable.
• Analyze and brief DSP, distribution, recording/artist, producer, music publishing and other royalty contracts and enter royalty provisions into our royalty systems
o Interpret royalty agreements, understanding the terms, conditions and calculations necessary for proper, timely and correct statements.
• Manage the onboarding of royalty accounts for new clients.
• Track royalty data entry, royalty data clean up, recoupable advance/expenses, account analysis and reconciliation. Accounts receivable payment and accuracy tracking.
• Support month/quarter end reconciliation of royalty accounts.
• Research, analysis and reconciliation of payable and receivable accounts.
• Work closely with finance team to ensure and enforce best practices on matching, reporting systems, royalty flow and data transparency.
• Ensure and coordinate accurate & timely royalty payments.
• Prepare royalty balance reports and payment request for Finance/AP.
• Interface with Finance, A&R (Creative and Admin), Legal and Business Affairs, and Licensing.
• Lead development of proprietary/internal royalty systems as the subject matter expert. Must have experience with royalty system analysis and development.
o Experience with Korrect Royalty Software and Vistex/Counterpoint Record and Music Maestro.
• Respond to statement related client inquiries in a timely manner.
• Prepare revenue evaluations as part of Catalog/Asset Acquisition team, and other ad-hoc analysis/reporting as requested.
• Manage team of local and off shore resources. Must have experience and comfort level with remote team management.
• Report department metrics and status of work to Management. Continuously improve revenue and royalty processes.
• Correspond with DSP’s, labels, managers, artists, publishers, accountants, third parties on all royalty related matters. Build strategic industry relationships.
• Manage copyright and document registration.
• Maintain highly detailed and organized files.
• This position is a direct report to the GM, with a dotted line to the CFO.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years related work experience
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), Google Docs (Docs, Sheets), SQL.
• Deep knowledge of label and publishing royalties, databases, processes and technologies.
• Tech-Savvy with strong computer skills. Experience with Korrect Royalty Software and Vistex/Counterpoint Record and Music Maestro.
• Strong communication skills. Fluent spoken and written English. Fluency in Spanish is a big plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIREMENTS:
– Solid technical and design skill set is essential (HTML, WordPress, WIX, Squarespace, Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign).
– Forward thinking and creative in developing engaging content for diverse platforms.
– Experience with audio and video editing, formatting and delivery (Premiere, Final Cut, Audition).
– Knowledge of metadata and tagging best practices, digital ingestion, catalog management, archive and backup.
– Familiar with Dropbox, G-Suite, and Mac OS environment.
– Able to chip in without pretense to assist with periodic special events and occasional office drudgery.
– Music Industry experience, 2 years minimum.
– Experience with physical format manufacturing and independent music retail a plus.
